Gazi University Faculty of Medicine celebrated the graduation of its 2024–2025 academic year students with great enthusiasm. The ceremony was held at the Genco Erkal Hall of the Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center and was attended by our Rector Prof. Uğur Ünal, Vice Rectors Prof. Necdet Hayta, Prof. Hasan Tezer, and Prof. Serhat Karyeyen, Rector’s Advisors Prof. Selami Candan and Dr. Ahmet Bilal Dostbil, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Alper Ceylan, Chief Physician of Gazi Hospital Prof. Hakan Atalar, Deputy Secretary General Dr. Sena Aydoğan, vice deans, directors, faculty members, and families of the graduates.

The program began with the graduation ceremony of the 11th cohort of the English Medicine Program, followed by the 41st cohort of the Turkish Medicine Program.

After a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, the ceremony continued with a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Alper Ceylan. He emphasized that the Faculty, which has educated thousands of physicians to date, ranks between 400–450 among the world’s top 1000 medical schools and is among the top five out of 87 medical faculties in Türkiye.

Addressing the graduates and their families, Prof. Alper Ceylan said, “Dear parents, your presence here today is a clear indication of the significant success your children have achieved,” and congratulated them. He concluded his remarks by thanking the Faculty’s academic staff for their support of the students.

Following his speech, the Rector of Gazi University, Prof. Uğur Ünal, took the stage. He emphasized that Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, established in 1979 as Ankara’s third and Türkiye’s 18th medical faculty, has always been recognized nationally and internationally for producing excellent physicians since its inception.

“I congratulate my dear children who have shown great perseverance throughout their education,” said Prof. Ünal, expressing pride in the graduates’ accomplishments. He reminded them that the medical profession requires continuous learning and self-improvement, adding, “I have full confidence that you will live up to this responsibility. May your path and future be bright.”

Prof. Ünal also highlighted the vital roles played by both the Faculty’s academic staff and the families of the students in their success. He thanked them and concluded his speech by wishing the students success in their professional lives.

Following the opening speeches, plaques were presented to the top-performing graduates and award winners. The program continued with speeches by the top students of each program and the traditional plaque-nailing ceremony on the graduation log.

The event concluded with the graduates taking the Hippocratic Oath under the guidance of Faculty Member Prof. Sefer Aycan, and then joyfully tossing their caps into the air.
