Research Fund Provided To Our University Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Nehir Canıgür Bavbek And Her Team

The first and most widely known clear aligner company in the world, Align Technology, the manufacturer of Invisalign clear aligners, provides grants of $25,000 each year to universities around the world for an average of 10 research projects in the field of orthodontic treatments and other dental treatments. Within the scope of the program, Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics Assoc. Prof. Nehir Canıgür Bavbek, who is project coordinator, and her team received funding for their research.

In order to benefit from the fund, researchers submit a project proposal to the company regarding the purpose and scope of the research that they plan to conduct at the university each year, and after the proposed projects are evaluated by an independent academic committee, the final winners are determined and announced by Align Technology at the end of June.

This year, as project coordinator, Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Orthodontics Assoc. Prof. Nehir Canıgür Bavbek will also benefit from the fund. No other researchers or university teams in Turkiye have previously benefited from this fund. Within the scope of the fund it is planned for the grants to be transferred to the researchers by the end of the year. In this context, the aim of the study, that will be carried out at our university, is to clinically compare the effectiveness of clear aligners with conventional treatment techniques in solving space constraints that occur due to early molar loss in primary dentition. The study is in the ethics committee application process and the clinical phase is planned to begin after receiving the ethics committee approval and grant support.
